I too have been in love with a canopy bed for as long as I can remember…and I too fell in love with the bed but not the price tag…so I did a ton of looking, and found one almost the same but cheaper! Check out my blog for options (totally not updated but the last post happens to be about this subject) …we actually just received the bed that I ordered, and I LOVE it! Just as much as the pottery barn one! And for half the price…it’s great!

My plan is to paint the main part kinda neutral, then do the sitting room super dramatic. That way you’ll see a peek of the dark through the french doors.

I would die for black out shades and that’s the plan. But I’m so used to waking up with the sun now that I worry that I’ll oversleep! The sun actually allows me to wake up gradually without realizing

Have you thought of doing a really dark bold color since the room is so big? I am always trying to paint rooms navy…

Annnnnd how do you not have black-out drapes in the bedroom with all that light!? Sometimes I leave the drapes open a touch (like, 1 ft) as a back-up to get me up and in the gym in the AM. And that is even too light! And BTW I usually just roll over, or get up and close the blinds so I can “sleep” (lay in bed) for another 45 minutes.

I know exactly how you feel! I fell in love with this bedroom set from Thomasville which was waaaaay more than I would ever pay. I ended up going to Raymour& Flanigan to buy my bed & dresser. For the canopy bed, have you checked Ashley Furniture? We got our couch there and love it. They have a similar canopy bed: the Martini Suite King Canopy Bed. Not sure about the price, but it's worth calling about!

ummmm if you get that new canopy bed can I have your old bed? =) its gorgeous! haha and dont feel embarassed… my house will be bare for a long long time… and then it will be time to move again! eep!
