Live from Disney World!

I finally got a hold of an internet connection here in Disney. This is what it looks like…

Seriously Disney?? It’s 2010 2011. My laptop doesn’t even know what that wire is. Oh and the lighting in this room is awful and we only brought our point and shoot, so please excuse the bad pictures.

Our room is much nicer than I expected and has some things I really like in it, so I figured I’d share. Like these awesome doors separating the bathroom/vanity area from the rest of the room…

Close up…

The pretty woodwork is also on the headboard, though it has some awful florescent light fixture above it…

That light is the only light in the room, besides a small fixture by the door that gives absolutely no light. And it’s blinding when you’re sitting in the bed.

Here are some cute little brown leather ottomans with some colorful striped curtains behind them…

The bathroom mirror has some nice woodwork on it too…

With a nice little added feature in each corner…

But don’t worry, we’ve been out and about too. Here’s me with Mickey at breakfast this morning…

And Mike and I with Minnie…

That’s all for now, we’re pretty bad with taking pictures of ourselves on vacation, but I’m determined to get a picture in front of Cinderella’s castle at some point! Now back to my vacation 🙂

why I should drink more wine

On Thanksgiving, my mom brought over this bottle of Luna Di Luna wine.

Yesterday I was about to put it in the recycling bin when I realized how pretty the blue bottle was.  I never thought of saving bottles since I’m not a big fan of the green ones, but I remembered Young House Love mentioning that they had previously done a post on removing labels.  So I hunted it down and found out that there was no miracle mixture, they just used hot water. I figured it was worth a shot!

Warning: I took more pictures than necessary, but I think that makes it more fun… like a picture book 🙂

FIrst I filled up our sink with hot, soapy water…

Then I threw the bottle in…

Added a little more water until it was submerged…

And then I waited… or maybe walked away and forgot about it for well over an hour…

When I took it out, it peeled off ridiculously easy.  And I was all ready to whip out the scrubby sponge…

The top piece was a little harder and I had to use some scissors…

Then tada! All clean!

I stuck it on our kitchen window for now, since I’m not exactly sure what I’m going to do with it, but it’s a pretty piece to work with.

This label came off so easily that I’m wondering if I should have tried to take it off before the soak? Hmmm.

Anyway, the result was great and now I have two criteria to use when buying wine….#1. pretty labels and #2. pretty colored bottles!

Tonight Mike and I decided to make some stirfry for dinner to use up our veggies from the farm.  I fell asleep and woke up for dinner, stumbled over to the table and started to eat when I spotted this…

IT’S MY PURPLE PEPPER! Mike cooked the purple pepper!

So I stopped eating and grabbed the camera…

For those who wondered what it would taste like, it was actually green on the inside, so it tasted quite like a green pepper…

And yes, I just so happen to be wearing the greatest shirt OF ALL TIME!

more pretty peppers!

I went to the farm again to pick up our veggies yesterday and saw a bin of green, light green and purple peppers together.  I should have taken a picture of all of them because they were just so pretty.  But then again, if you’ve browsed our wedding pictures, you know that I love the purple/green combo.

I overhead someone at the farm say how delicious the purple peppers were last week.  We didn’t eat ours, but maybe we’ll venture out this week and give it a shot. But for now, I put my pepper friends in the usual countertop bowl, accompanied by a spaghetti squash, some tomatoes and some other peppers.

I say purple is my favorite color, but I’m usually more attracted to turquoisey-blue/greens.  But I think I need to get some purple in this house… Shh don’t tell Mike…

I posted this picture a few weeks ago of some tomatoes we got from the farm we belong to. Well the farm just outdid itself by giving us a purple pepper!!!

Yes I know, one of those things is a pumpkin. But we also got that from the farm and I was going for the contrast 🙂

I took seriously well over a hundred pictures of these things. I don’t think I will ever eat them. But for now, they are sleeping tight in my favorite countertop bowl from Ikea…

Mother nature has outdone herself again. I am so in love with these pretty colored veggies that I may have to find a place in my house to hang one of my hundred pictures. Dining room?
